10 EASY WAYS TO REDUCE CLUTTER

CLOTHES, JUNK MAIL, MAGAZINES, KNICKKNACKS THAT SEEM TO MULTIPLY… MOST OF US HAVE SOME DEGREE OF CLUTTER IN OUR HOMES AND OFFICES – AND THE PILES TEND TO GET LARGER AS WE AGE

A certain amount of
clutter is fine as long as it doesn’t interfere with your life. But if you’re spending
more and more time looking for your favorite clothes, or if you have to go out and
buy more stuff because you can’t find the stuff you bought last month, or if you’re
not paying bill because you lose them under the junk mail, you may have a problem.
Too much clutter can raise your stress levels. It can poison your air with allergens and breed insects and roaches. Even worse, it can lead to fires and falls that can hurt or even kill you.
If clutter is getting the better of you, it’s time to take some serious steps. The 10 easy tips will help get and keep your clutter under control.

For every new thing you bring into the house, throw out, donate or give away something old. |

|

Avoid impulse buying. Shop with a list and avoid garage sales. |
|
|
|
|

|
When trying on clothes, if it doesn’t put a smile on your face, don’t put it back in the closet. Give it to someone who will appreciate it. |

|

|
Once a year, go through your makeup, toiletries and medicine cabinet and get rid of anything that’s old, unused or expired. |

|
|

|
Create a file for warranties, instruction books and receipts and them all together for when you may need to use them. |

Don’t save photo negatives except very old, treasured one for which you don’t have a photo. |

If you have duplicate 4 x 6 photos, turn them into postcards, add stamps and mail to those who would enjoying receiving them. |

Don’t clutter your mind with things to remember. Put them on a calendar or in a planner. |

Every time you touch a piece of paper use the 4 D method: Do, Delegate, Delay or Dump. Create a tickler file for the delays to get them off your desk. |
